Corporate Power

Most memorably, Thomas Jefferson warned of the economic and political power that unrestrained corporations could wield:

Fifty years later, Abraham Lincoln acknowledged the fulfillment of Jefferson's admonition and the disastrous consequences to ensue:

Neither, however, could have imagined that stateless, trans-national corporations would dominate every aspect of modern cultural, economic and political life.  Equally unimaginable to each would be that America's citizens would have so passively accepted such a condition.
